FORMES

Shapes are the most basic of the elements of design and yet one of the most fundamental. I began experimenting with cast concrete forms years ago and recently began exploring plaster. The concrete sphere has been sitting in the garden for about two years to get the perfect amount of algae growth. I love the ever-changing quality of garden features and the idea of bringing them inside from time to time to enjoy. The other shapes are cast in plaster. The lamp shade is one I found at a thrift shop and designed a lamp to go with it that exaggerates the proportions of the shade, emphasizing the dramatic conical shape of it. The print is 18th century.
